Victor Osimhen reaches new record as Napoli trounce Cremonese

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen created a new record on Sunday, as he found the back of the net once in the Partenopei’s 3-0 win over Cremonese in Serie A.

Napoli have opened up a 16-point gap at the top of the table once again with their win at home against Cremonese. While Khvicha Kvaratskhelia found the back of the net in the first half, goals from Osimhen and Eljif Elmas increased the troubles for the away side, who remain in the relegation zone.

But once again, the spotlight was on the Georgian and the Nigerian and the striker shattered Gonzalo Higuain’s record of scoring in five consecutive league games for Napoli, taking his own tally to six for the season. Higuain reached his feat in the 2015/16 campaign.

The Nigerian now has 17 goals in Serie A and 18 in all competitions, with the Champions League returning. He has scored eight goals in the last six games, also getting one assist.
