Yan Sommer arrives in Milan ahead of transfer to Inter

Inter find themselves within a very short distance that separates themselves from the finish-line in completing the signing of the heir to Andre Onana as Yan Sommer has touched ground in Milan.

Sky Italia, via FcInter1908, reveals a video of the Switzerland international exiting the Milan airport as the veteran shot-stopper is set to make his switch to the Nerazzurri official as his medical examinations are scheduled to take place on Monday.

Whilst the Nerazzurri have attempted to lure the 34 year-old former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper for a fee around the region of €4.5m, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have forced Inter to remain on stand-by as they were keen on finding a replacement prior to offloading the veteran as a result of starting shot-stopper Manuel Neuer being held at bay due to injury.

With the Beneamata having failed to secure a shot-stopper to fill the void in between the sticks following the departure of Champions League hero Onana to Manchester United, Inter have taken matters within their own hands as they are set to trigger Sommer’s €6m release clause in order to complete the acquisition of their primary candidate to take on the starting custodian role.

Despite not attaining Sommer prior to the pre-season tour in Japan as they initially desired, the Nerazzurri will have three weeks to work with the Swiss international ahead of the opening fixture of the season against Monza.
