Atalanta unlikely to sell Teun Koopmeiners amid Napoli interest

Atalanta are keen to keep hold of their Dutch central midfielder Teun Koopmeiners despite interest from the current Serie A champions Napoli.

The 25-year-old Netherlands international had his strongest season to date last year with La Dea as he scored ten goals in Serie A and established himself amongst the league’s elite midfielders.

With the player fully adapted to Serie A following his move from his homeland and now showing himself to be one of the top midfielders in the league, Napoli are said to have made early contacts over a move.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio understands that even with Napoli keen on the player, his current club are unwillingly to let Koopmeiners leave unless they receive an offer they cannot refuse.

Should they keep hold of the player and deals for Gianluca Scamacca and Charles De Ketelaere be completed, Atalanta could well be set up to challenge at the top end of the table as they head into the year knowing they don’t have European football as a distraction.
