Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has criticised striker Gianluca Scamacca, stating that the Italian needs to work harder.
Scamacca had joined Atalanta in the summer after his record move to West Ham had failed due to injuries and a lack of suitability to the clubโs system. And it seems as if things arenโt going right for the striker at La Dea.
Gasperini spoke to Lโeco di Bergamo (via TMW) in an interview today and he talked about Scamacca and his situation at the club since joining. Gasperini revealed that he has to be running more or it will not help him progress in his career, also focusing on his desire to play regularly.
The Atalanta boss stated: โHe has to run because he isnโt running much. If he is so undynamic he wonโt be able to do anything good. Even if he has these important qualitiesโฆโ
Gasperini spoke about the desire to play regularly, while talking about the clubโs goalkeeping situation involving Marco Carnesecchi and Juan Musso.
He said: โYou can have two goalkeepers of equal value, but the goalkeepers must be willing to be there. If this isnโt the case, I have never kept people against their will. Carnesecchi fits the model I intended. For me, the good of club comes first.โ
Scamacca hasnโt had a bad start to life at the club, having scored five times in Serie A and scoring once in the Europa League as well.
