Gian Piero Gasperini close to staying at Atalanta

Serie A side Atalanta seem close to keeping manager Gian Piero Gasperini at the club in what could be more good news for them days after the Europa League final win.

There were some doubts about whether Gasperini would stay at the club or not and Napoli seemed to be interested in the Italian, but La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Italian’s stay in Bergamo seems to be happening this summer. There is quite a bit of certainty that he will be staying at the club.

A key meeting between the two parties took place yesterday and it involved the club’s CEO and sporting director. There is a common will to succeed at the club. Gasperini believes that even if his current deal expires in the summer of 2025, he has no doubts about his stay.

Talks about the extension of the deal haven’t taken place but parties are excited about the direction in which La Dea go next season, as they aim to stay close to the best of sides in Europe and Italy and Gasperini seems quite keen on taking on that challenge too.

A second meeting will take place between the parties today and it seems likely that discussions about transfers and players will take place then.
