Inter coach Simone Inzaghi following Bologna win: โ€œWe are happy because we honoured the clubโ€™s birthday with a very important victoryโ€

Following the Nerazzurriโ€™s impressive 1-0 victory against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dallโ€™Ara this evening, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi provided his insight on the fixture in a post match interview. โ€œWe are happy because we honoured the clubโ€™s birthday with a very important victory,โ€ commenced Simone Inzaghi while speaking into the microphones of DAZN Italia after seizing three points on the Beneamataโ€™s 116th anniversary, via FcInter1908.

Despite being confronted by a solid Rossoblu side this evening, Inter remained composed and professional as they were compact defensively throughout nearly the entire 90 minutes, completing neutralizing coach Thiago Mottaโ€™s side.ย

The Nerazzurri posed a major threat whilst attacking when in-transition, which enabled promising defender Yann Aurel Bisseck to seize the game-winner in the 35th minute of play with a diving header in courtesy of a sublime delivery from Alessandro Bastoni from the left-hand side of the pitch into the box.

Inter managed to hand Bologna their second loss on home soil throughout the entire season thus far, extending their unbeaten record away from home to 12 wins and 2 draws, and have catapulted 18 points clear of second place Juventus, whom have a game in-hand as they are set to face Atalanta tomorrow evening in Turin.

Simone Inzaghi began by providing his perspective of his sideโ€™s performance against fourth-placed Bologna:

โ€œWe maintain a distance from those chasing us and we deserved the lead in the first half. In the second half, Bologna rose and deserved the ranking they have and we suffered as a team, also thinking about the Champions League on Wednesday. The goal we scored was incredible from third to third and we are really happy, all the staff for this work.โ€

In addition, Inzaghi touched upon what caused Inter to struggle in dominating possession throughout the second half:

โ€œClearly weโ€™ve already talked about it with the boys: excellent first half, everything we promised ourselves. In the second half the pressure was stronger, we occupied the pitch less well, we played technically well, we suffered the right amount and we played with low density.โ€

ย โ€œWe donโ€™t often get to do it but for us itโ€™s also the sixth game in twenty days, weโ€™ve played a lot of games. This evening Iโ€™m sorry for Arnautovic who felt a little something, a little problem for Augusto but itโ€™s normal to lose players with all these games. Letโ€™s hope they return soon.โ€

Finally, Inzaghi briefly touched upon Interโ€™ s upcoming fixture in the second leg of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitan Stadium, in which the Nerazzurri head to the Spanish capital with a single-goal advantage on aggregate:

โ€œAthletico Madrid is certainly a team that changes a lot both away and at home. We know what we will find: what players they have and what coach โ€œCholoโ€ is. We will try to prepare well but the home factor will certainly influence but we will prepare it to move forward because that is what we want.โ€

ย โ€œToday Simeone changed up front, they had some players out and they too will try to recover them but we will try to prepare it knowing that we will prepare a good environment. But even last year in Porto and Lisbon we found the atmosphere not too tender.โ€
