Inter’s Denzel Dumfries likely to be sanctioned after unfurling Theo Hernandez banner

Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries is likely to be sanctioned by the FIGC after he unfurled a rather controversial banner about Milan’s Theo Hernandez during the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title parade yesterday.

Images of Dumfries showing the Hernandez banner went viral yesterday, as the Dutchman picked it up when it was handed over to him by a fan from the crowd. But it seems as if the wing-back will be punished for his actions. Marko Arnautovic was also handed the banner but the Austrian had declined it.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FCInter1908) state that Dumfries’ actions ‘tarnished’ the party and that is exactly what Inter didn’t want to see during the parade. FIGC are looking into the matter and it seems fairly likely that he will be sanctioned in some form.

He didn’t feature against Torino yesterday after being suspended during the Milan game for a brawl with Hernandez himself, as the Frenchman too was sent off after the incident.
