Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani: “San Siro no longer meets the necessary standards for fans”

Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani has been rather vocal about the San Siro’s obsolete standards and detailed the plans of a new stadium.

With a public note from ANSA (via Gianluca Di Marzio), Milan released CEO Giorgio Furlani’s quotes as he spoke in Investopia 2024, a finance and business meeting that took place in Saudi Arabia. He admitted that the club’s current home, San Siro, does not meet the recent standards of the fans due to its age and that they are working on building a new stadium in San Donato. The words were: “Our current stadium [San Siro], with its age and limitations, no longer meets the standards necessary to offer an optimal experience to our fans.”

Furlani expressed the Rossoneri club’s desire to expand its network in the Middle East and the Americas while working to create their new home. He said: “Looking ahead, Milan’s future plan includes the continuation of our international expansion path in the Middle East and America, together with the ambitious project of a new stadium in San Donato.”

Milan and Inter have been sharing the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza stadium or the San Siro since 1947 after the Nerazzurri decided to shift from Arena Civica. The stadium was inaugurated on September 19, 1926, on the occasion of the Milan derby and it has not received much renovation since then. Inter are also looking to build their new ground in the Rozzano Municipality soon.
