Milan star Rafael Leao emerges as concrete transfer target for PSG

The interest from Ligue 1 giants PSG regarding the purchase of Milan star winger Rafael Leao in the summer transfer window has become very concrete compared to six months ago.

Italian journalist Daniele Longo reports that as it stands, French international Kylian Mbappe is unwilling to renew his contract with the French outfits beyond this season when is contract expires, and is tipping towards joining Real Madrid on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

As a result, club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is prepared to listen to the indications regarding the Portuguese international from sporting director Luis Campos as Leao has emerged as PSG’s primary target to replace Mbappe in the case that he ultimately departs the club.

The interest in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old spurred in the summer of 2023, following the departures of key forwards Lionel Messi and Neymar. PSG did not go beyond attaining information from his agent Jorge Mendes on Leao, as well as monitoring his performances at Milan.

However, the interest has become more serious as PSG are keen to offer Leao a predominant role at the club in the case that Mbappe decides not to renew with the Ligue 1 side.

As it stands, there have not been any contact between both clubs and the relationship between Leao and the Rossonerri is very strong. However, despite Leao’s contract with the Milanese club expiring in the summer of 2028, PSG would be prepared to enter intense negotiations in the event that they lose Mbappe on a free transfer.
