After his excellent showing in the Champions League knockout rounds last season, it is not very surprising that Denzel Dumfries has found himself at the heart of some transfer interest. This has mostly been made possible by a clause in his contract which has a โฌ25m buyout option for non Italian clubs if paid by 15th July, in a single installment.
Barcelona are said to be one of the contenders. Dumfries was a massive reason behind Inter beating Barca in the Champions League semifinals this year, hence the interest is not surprising in the slightest. However, as per some sources back in Catalonia, this is not a situation that Hansi Flickโs side are treating as priority.
As per TMW, Manchester City are the more interested party in this situation. City havenโt strengthened at right-back since Kyle Walker moved and Dumfriesโ physicality can be an effective replacement for the Englishman. They have already signed Tijjani Reijnders from Milan this season and could do the same with Dumfries from the Nerrazzuri part of the city.
