As reported by Corriere della Sera, via Roma Forever, Aston Villa are leading the race for Crysencio Summerville, while Roma are working on a deadline.
Roma have not moved from their stance in recent days: theyโre willing to offer West Ham โฌ40 million and the Dutchman a contract worth โฌ4.5 million plus bonuses annually. As things stand, the player is looking for a yearly salary closer to โฌ6 million, while the Hammers want the transfer fee to be closer to โฌ45 million.
The Giallorossi have asked the 24-year-old to give them a definitive answer by Monday. They deem a main target for their plans for the new season, but it seems unlikely theyโll budge from their stance.
This brings Summervilleโs Premier League suitors back into the picture. Manchester United and Aston Villa, both of whom will be playing in the Champions League next term, will be more likely to match both West Hamโs and Summervilleโs demands. As things stand, Unai Emery and Co are leading the race, while United are expected to wait for Marcus Rashford to leave before making a move for a forward.

A fair stance
Romaโs stance on the matter is more than understandable. They are in the market for a forward or two, but theyโll hope for Donyell Malen to do most of the heavy lifting going forward and are eyeing someone who can play both alongside him and in his stead; trying to outmuscle the Premier League sides for this profile seems unreasonable.
Some time away from the Premier League, especially if it allows him limelight near the top of a league summit, could do his career a lot of good, and it may even set him up for a better salary package in a couple of years than what he may stand to gain by moving to a better Premier League side right now.
One thing is for certain, though: it is highly unlikely we see him again playing in a West Ham shirt.
