In the last year or so, Serie A side Como have managed to battle away Inter in a bid to keep Cesc Fabregas at the club. The Spaniard continues to make a mark at the lakeside club but details of a favourable clause for Chelsea and Arsenal has now emerged.
Gianluca Di Marzio spoke to Greek outlet Betarades about the Como bossโ situation. He is certain Fabregas will leave at some point in the future.
He said: โFabregas will only leave Como for a super top club like Barcelona or Arsenal, but they renewed Flickโs contract and Arsenal are obviously happy with Arteta. I donโt see him going to the first top club that needs him.โ
Di Marzio also clarified that Fabregas has never been in a rush to make the next step, which has led to him rejecting several clubs.
โHeโs like a calculator. He knows heโs going to coach one of these top clubs. Heโs not in a hurry because, even last year, he said no to Inter, no to Roma, he said no to Bayer Leverkusen, and also Como didnโt want to let him go.โ
Further, he noted that Fabregasโ current deal has a contract which favours his former clubs Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea.
โHe had a release clause for top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, โโso it depends on which of those clubs starts to struggle. Everything can change. I think the problem for Como will be to find a new Fabregas, a new coach with his charisma, with his leadership, with his ideas, with his vision.โ
Di Marzio also tipped Alberto Aquilani to possibly replace Fabregas, if the Spaniard ends up at Arsenal or Chelsea in the future.
โI think Sassuoloโs Aquilani is a coach who I donโt know if he can replace him, but in Italy he is one of the coaches who try to play in this way, and I think Como will take a look at him if Cesc decides to leave.โ
