Serie A side Como have seen defender Jacobo Ramon thrive for the last season or so, as they roped him in from Real Madrid in the summer of 2025. He has only grown in stature since then, and attention around him is likely to grow.
The Spaniard spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport in a rather detailed interview today. He was asked a host of questions about his career and life.
When asked about a possible return to Real Madrid in the future, the centre-back said: โIโll just say one thing, which is an absolute certainty: Iโm doing great at Como. Weโve just started the season, and Iโm not thinking about anything else. We need to have a great season, nothing more.โ
While focused on the future, Ramon also offered insight into how Como and living in Italy has changed him.
โItโs changed my mentality. Iโve always lived here in Madrid at home with my parents, so I had to step out of my comfort zone, and itโs been good for me. Iโve matured and changed some things about my routine. I feel great.โย
He also addressed whether Cesc Fabregas and his system is a disruptive force in Calcio.
The defender responded: โI wouldnโt say so. Itโs clear that you canโt please everyone, thatโs life. Cesc loves Italy very much and admires Italian football. What heโs trying to do is promote the Serie A movement, to play a more eye-catching, beautiful game.โ
โBy doing different things, heโs trying to open up Italian football so as many people as possible can watch it. Roma-Inter was a magnificent match, thatโs the path forward.โย
Ramon also admitted he has grown very quickly and even he didnโt expect that.
โFabregas had called me, showing great confidence in me, but honestly, I didnโt expect to play so much so quickly. Iโve improved and grown a lot.โ
This is likely to be a huge season for the 21-year-old, who has also attracted interest from the Premier League. Real Madrid have a 50% sell-on clause in his contract and also a buyback, which can prove significant at the end of the campaign.
