Serie A side Fiorentina have taken the drastic step of sacking Fabio Grosso only after three games in-charge at a time when the club has spent significantly in the transfer window. Now, former manager Paolo Vanoli is set for a return.
At one point, it appeared as if Grosso will get three more games to save his La Viola job but the decision to sack him came quickly overnight.
Now, Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Fiorentina are working to finalise the details of the move for Vanoli, who left the club at the end of last season despite helping them towards survival.
La Viola feel Vanoli is the right person to bring the season back on track.
Corriere dello Sport report that Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor are also candidates, with the Croatian having last managed Tottenham for a brief, disappointing stint last season.ย
But they too feel Vanoli is the leading candidate, with Fiorentina seeking a drastic change to turn things around.
