Douglas Luiz Transfer Blow: Galatasaray pull out of deal for Juventus loanee at Aston Villa

Turkish giants Galatasaray are not aiming to pursue a permanent transfer for Juventus loanee at Aston Villa, Douglas Luiz.

According to an update by Mirko Di Natale, Galatasaray have decided against going after Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer following internal meetings in the last few hours. The 27-year-old returned to Unai Emeryโ€™s side in January, ending a brief stint with Nottingham Forest. However, he officially remains a Bianconeri player.ย

The Old Lady are looking to cash in the player during the upcoming transfer window, and they are yet to receive concrete suitors for him. Galatasaray emerged as a potential buyer in recent weeks, but the Turkish side has now gone far from it.ย

It remains to be seen whether the Aslanlar will come back later with a different idea, possibly a loan with the buyout option. Aston Villa are also undecided on keeping the player for the foreseeable future, although he did add to the midfield depth, which they lacked for most of the campaign.ย

The Brazilian international was loaned out by Juventus to Nottingham Forest for the first part of the season. He struggled to get playing time there with only 14 appearances, so his parent club recalled him in the winter window and was again loaned out to Villa to cover for Boubacar Kamara and John McGinnโ€™s injuries. The Premier League side has a buyout option set at โ‚ฌ25million for him, and Luizโ€™s future right now looks unsure.ย
