Last week, Manchester City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was being linked with a shock return to the Serie A, as Juventus and Inter have been monitoring his situation.
The key behind a possible move was going to be the Citizensโ legal trouble, as theyโve been found guilty of 114 charges in the Premier League. The two Italian sides have been keen on taking advantage of this chaos.
Donnarummaโs agent Enzo Raiola has now spoken to Radio Napoli Centrale, revealing that there is nothing alarming about the Manchester City situation. The Citizens have, in fact, clarified to the player that things are under control.
He said โ via AreaNapoli: โCan the Manchester City chaos change anything? No, nothing will change for us and for Gigio. News comes out periodically. The club has spoken to Gigio, everyone is calm. Now there are important matches against Liverpool and PSG, then sporting justice will take its course. But Gigio has received reassurances from Manchester City.โ
Raiola also revealed that he is very happy with the keeperโs growth and that he is one of the best in the world, despite the critics.
โFor years Iโve been saying Donnarumma would have been the best. In certain matches and incidents, some have cast doubt and criticized Gianluigi. Iโve always advocated calm. Iโve always said that one day he would be part of an important project in the national team.โ
โMany have unfairly criticized Donnarumma, especially for his value as a player. Now heโs lost his leadership of the national team. Iโm very happy with him. He fully represents Italy. Castellammare is a city of great goalkeepers. Campania has always been an important hub.โ

Huge wages mean exit unlikely
Donnarumma earns hefty wages that perhaps only Manchester City can afford right now. This means a return to Italy would need him to take a huge wage cut, which may not be possible at this point of time.
