Serie A side Milan paid a hefty amount to land Goncalo Ramos in the summer and manager Ruben Amorim has now backed him to succeed.
The striker has found a fine vein of form for Portugal in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring three times during the international break.
He hasnโt always clicked at Milan, finding the net just once in the Serie A so far after making an impression in pre-season. But his general link-up has been good, which is giving signs of hope for the Rossoneri.
Amorim spoke to DAZN about Ramos and backed him to make a mark.
He said โ via Gazzetta dello Sport: โIโm not going to say Ramos should run less, Iโd never say that about a player. First of all, the key thing is that weโre scoring, and thatโs what matters most. Then I know a striker needs to score, and he will.โ
Amorim praised Ramos for what he is doing with his overall play and made it clear he scores more for Portugal while getting less service.
โIf you look at the national team, I think he has fewer opportunities to score. Football is like that sometimes, but heโs working hard, and if weโre scoring, itโs also thanks to him. He just needs to keep helping the team and doing what heโs doing: the goals will definitely come.โ

Matter of time
Ramos simply seemed to be missing his goalscoring boots at Milan but hopefully, that issue would be resolved after a gilded spell with the national team. It will give him a lot of confidence, especially as he feels like a player who suits Amorimโs system because of his link-up and ability to play one-touch passes.
