Serie A sides Inter and Napoli played out a thriller today, as the Italian champions grabbed a sensational 3-2 comeback win at the Giuseppe Meazza.
At the turn of the year, Inter found themselves 2-0 down, thanks to goals from Matteo Politano and Rasmus Hojlund. Inter had lost concentration but soon, they were pushing. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram got a goal each, with the Argentine grabbing a stoppage time winner.
The game was a fitting reminder of the Serie Aโs entertainment value, as Inter appeared very relentless after they went 2-0 down.
Napoli boss Max Allegri spoke to DAZN about the game, but wasnโt too disappointed with this teamโs performance.
He said โ via CM: โThatโs football. We could have scored, but they did and won the match. We need to improve, but our performance and ball control remain [good]. We had favorable situations in the first half, but we didnโt score.ย
โThey are very good at creating chances out of thin air. We need to stay calm. Right now weโre paying too much for our mistakes. The teamโs fitness will certainly improve, but now we need to focus on the Champions League.โ
He also accepted his mistakes in the game, noting that Napoli couldโve set up differently.
โYes, it shows that football has no logic. I wanted to defend inside the penalty area, but perhaps it would have been better if I had done things differently. But we have to accept defeat, and the boys need to stay calm, because they put in a great performance.โ
This is Napoliโs second loss in a row and they already find themselves six points behind Inter, who have won all three games in the campaign.
