For many hours, it seemed like Crysencio Summerville would end up in Serie A. Roma made key progress in the deal for him and were on the verge of sealing a move until Al-Hilal stepped in and offered a massive amount.
La Gazzetta dello Sport believe that this has caused massive disappointment in Rome. They felt the player was in their hands. Gian Piero Gasperini had spoken to Summerville many times over the phone and wanted to meet him tomorrow. The club had hoped he would chose them but feel he has gambled with his ambition by moving to Saudi Arabia.
Now, Roma are looking around at alternatives, especially as Aston Villa are pushing for another target in Alejandro Garnacho.
At the top of the shortlist is Leipzigโs Antonio Nusa, who is valued at โฌ40 million. Cost isnโt expected to be an issue and that is why Roma are happy to consider expensive players. Benficaโs Andreas Schjelderup is also an option but the Giallorossi also have some lesser known names on their shortlist. This includes Kolnโs Said El Mala and PSG talent Ibrahim Mbaye.
Figures and valuations of all the players are being considered, with Gasperini keen on an attacking signing.
