Serie A outfit Roma are inching closer to renewing Paulo Dybalaโs contract with the club.ย
According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the final signatures on Dybalaโs contract extension is set to take place after Romaโs derby against Lazio this Sunday.ย
Following last Tuesdayโs meeting in Trigoria, the Argentineโs agent Carlos Novel and the clubโs sporting director Ricky Massara sat down to discuss the terms of his new deal. The 32-year-old is set to earn a fixed base salary of โฌ2-2.5 million, and this amount could increase based on the number of appearances, goals and assists he produces in the upcoming seasons.ย
La Joya is a fan favourite, and the Giallorossi want to reward him for rejecting a sizeable package from Saudi Arabia two years back to stay at the Italian capital side.ย
What did the Roma boss had to say about Dybala
Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini looks intent on continuing with Dybala into next season despite an injury-ridden campaign. โIt was a shame that Paulo had to sit out three months due to injury,โ remarked Gasperini after Romaโs victory against Parma, โEspecially because before he had to sit out, he was doing very well: I was convinced this could be an extraordinary year for him; Iโd seen him play at a very high level.โ
Roma are hoping to see an attacking partnership of Dybala and Donyell Malen to ensure regular goals throughout the new season.ย
