Francesco Totti Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Francesco Totti was awarded the inaugural ‘Legend of Sport’ award at the annual Gazzetta Sports Awards yesterday.

The lifetime achievement award, which celebrates the Italian sports personalities of the era, was a tribute to Totti’s 25-year-career with boyhood club Roma and the Italy national team.

“‘Legend’ is a big word, but I am very happy to receive the first of these,” the 40-year-old said.

Following the presentation, Italian actor and lifelong Roma fan Carlo Verdone felicitated Totti in a video message.

“You brought the amazement into the stadium,” the 67-year-old said.

Totti currently works as a director at Roma.
