Kluivert | “Things much better under Paulo Fonseca”

Roma winger Justin Kluivert admits this season is “much better” under new boss Paulo Fonseca than last season with Eusebio Di Francesco.

“It is up to me to demonstrate what I am worth,” the 20-year-old told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. “I want to reach the European championships. No matter how, whether I’m playing on the left or the right, I want to go.

“I see things in a positive light. I regret not having been called up by the senior national team, but tonight against Portugal [U21] I want to show what I am worth, not only to Koeman, but to all the Netherlands.

“Last year Di Francesco was under pressure. It was therefore difficult for young people like me to find space in the team. The boss chose more certain choices and I understand that.

“This season is much better with Fonseca . My way of interpreting football is more similar to. With him we speak in English and this is easier for me. Good things happen only if you trust yourself. I have scored two goals this season, I would like to reach fourteen. I think it’s possible, so I’ll try.”
