Decision over Napoli and Roma forfeit appeals postponed

As reported by various outlets including Repubblica and Sky Italia, the Italian FA’s decision regarding the 3-0 forfeit defeats inflicted on Napoli and Roma has been postponed, with the hearings taking place today and a decision originally expected in the evening.

Napoli’s appeal regards the point deduction and 3-0 defeat decided by the sporting judge after the Azzurri were unable to travel to Turin to play against Juventus, having been barred by local health authorities from travelling due to two Covid-19 cases in the team.

The Giallorossi appeal refers to the 3-0 win awarded to Hellas Verona, after midfielder Amadou Diawara was played despite not being signed onto the club’s squad list for the current Serie A season and being over the age to count as a youth player.

With the debates taking up the allotted time, the Italian FA’s sporting tribunal has postponed its decision on both appeals, with a final verdict expected in the coming days.
