Italian FA chief suggests Serie A season could be extended until October

Speaking to Rai Sport this Sunday, the head of the Italian FA Gabriele Gravina indicated that the current Serie A season could restart as early as May, and finish as late as October.

“The only way to handle a serious situation of this kind is to nonetheless finish the competitions of the 2019-20 season this year. We’re working on a series of solutions to best manage this situation. One date which has been put forward to start again is the 17th May, but I would like to underline again that this is only a proposal.”

“[Playing until September-October] this would be a way of avoiding a compromise of the 2019-20 season, as well as the 2020-21 one.”
