Maldini on Federico Chiesa: “He is one of the best young Italians, but there’s never been negotiations with Fiorentina.”

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia in the wake of the unveiling of Sandro Tonali as a Milan player, Director of Sport Paolo Maldini was asked about the potential for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa to be the latest young Italian to arrive for the Rossoneri.

Maldini insisted that the club’s priorities were already met – save for a potential defensive arrival – although he did reserve some praise for the forward.

“Chiesa is one of the best young Italians, but there’s never been negotiations with Fiorentina for him – that’s the state of affairs as of today. The aim is to always improve the squad and right now are priorities are covered.”

“We have a few small problems with injuries for the centre-backs, but seeing as the window will be open to October, Milan will look to improve itself, if the opportunity is there.”
