Cuadrado on Pirlo pressure: “It’s not his fault, we’re the ones out there on the pitch.”

Speaking at an event held at a Turin high school, discussing the effect of Covid-19 on sport, Juventus wide man Juan Cuadrado reiterated his support for his under-fire manager following a poor run of form.

His words transcribed in Repubblica, the Colombian international also recounted his experience having previously tested positive for Covid-19, one of the multiple Bianconeri players to do so since the start of the pandemic.

“I was very calm when I found out I’d tested positive for Covid-19, I was able to do many things seeing as I was asymptomatic. The hardest part was watching my team-mates playing and not being able to give them a hand. During that period I rested myself.”

On the pressure building on Andrea Pirlo

“He’s doing a great job, it’s not easy to arrive at a top club. It’s not his fault, we’re the ones out there on the pitch. There’s been a lot of changes and new players have arrived, we need to be patient. We dropped points when we shouldn’t have and that’s why we find ourselves in the position we’re in – but we need to believe in it right up until the end.”
