Ivan Gazidis on cancer diagnosis: “I am confident based on all advice”

Milan have released an official statement to announce that CEO Ivan Gazidis has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

The statement goes on to state that the doctors expect Gazidis to make a full recovery soon and the club’s CEO will remain operational during the process.

Gazidis also talked to the club’s channel about the situation and he is positive about his recovery, praising Milan’s medical setup for the diagnosis.

He stated: “Of course, there is never a good time for a diagnosis of cancer. But I have a very curable form of cancer and a positive diagnosis. I have world class medical expertise, and the support of so many loved ones and everyone at the Club, and I am confident based on all advice that the cancer will be treated successfully, with a full recovery. My diagnosis demonstrates the importance of regular medical check ups, even if you don’t have symptoms.

“I would encourage everyone to prioritise their health and to make sure, even in the day to day obligations of life and work, that they have their regular medical checkups.”

Gazidis had arrived at Milan in late 2018 and it is in his absence that the Rossoneri finished second in the Serie A last season and it is their best finish since the 2011/12 league campaign.

During his time at Arsenal, Gazidis was at the club when Arsene Wenger departed and he had taken over the club back in 2009.
