Milan boss criticises referee after Atletico loss: “It’s not just the sending off and penalty.”

Milan boss Stefano Pioli has criticised referee Cuneyt Cakir after the Rossoneri’s loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Milan did take the lead against Atleti through Rafael Leao but Franck Kessie was controversially sent off. Atleti drew level through Antoine Griezmann and a controversial penalty in stoppage time led to Luis Suarez making it 2-1 for the Spanish side.

Pioli talked to Mediaset about Cakir and spoke about the things that the Turkish referee got wrong: “Many situations. Not only the sending off and the penalty, 50/50 challenges always went to the other side. But we have to think about the good things done when it was 11 against 11. With a little attention, we could also have brought home the victory.”

Milan are yet to pick up a single point in the Champions League, as they lost to Liverpool too. From a positive perspective, they’ve taken the lead against both the sides but have failed to hold on.
