Roma open to Diawara sale, Mourinho doesn’t consider him an important player

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are said to be open to letting Amadou Diawara leave this summer as the midfielder doesn’t find himself to be high up in the Portuguese’s pecking order.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have stated today that Roma, in their attempt to bring Granit Xhaka to the club, had tried to offer Diawara to Arsenal to increase their offer. But the Gunners rejected the idea straightaway.

Roma’s midfield situation is said to be ‘alarming’ because Gonzalo Villar has sustained an injury on his knee, Jordan Veretout has undergone just one training session and Ebrima Darboe is having difficulties in adaptation in the start of the season. This has left Bryan Cristante as Mourinho’s only fit and firing midfield option right now as he doesn’t consider Diawara to be an important player for him.

Roma would ‘gladly’ move on from the ex-Napoli man this summer, the report goes on to state and the Giallorossi are now back in contact for Teun Koopmeiners.
