Real Madrid and Manchester United keen on Atalanta defender Merih Demiral

Atalanta will sign Merih Demiral permanently from Juventus. But with La Dea looking for some capital gain, the defender might get sold this summer.

In an exclusive piece, TuttoAtalanta talks about the interest of Real Madrid and Manchester United in the Turkish defender.

As per the report, Real Madrid may already have an agreement in principle for Demiral ahead of a potential transfer this summer. Furthermore, it believes that Los Blancos might have also requested the Italian club to manage the player’s fitness properly and keep him away from injury during the last phase of the campaign.

For Demiral, Atalanta want to do a deal akin to the transfer of Cristian Romero to Tottenham Hotspur. Last summer, La Dea signed Demiral on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy worth €25million. As reported previously, several Premier League clubs have identified the centre-back as a potential summer transfer target.

Having played 28 matches since joining the Bergamo-based club, the former Sassuolo man has impressed everyone with his defensive attributes. As such, Atalanta want to trigger the permanent buy option to purchase the defender’s rights entirely before shifting him elsewhere for a better deal.

Though, Gian Piero Gasperini has not decided on whether or not the club should keep the centre-back in the squad for the next season.
