Barcelona’s Jordi Alba confirms desire to stay amidst Inter talk

Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has told his club about the desire to stay at the club this summer.

It was recently reported in Spain that the left-back was heading to Inter but the rumours were denied earlier today in Italy.

Giacomo Iacobellis has now reported about the situation of the player, stating that an internal meeting took place involving Barcelona executives, Xavi and the player today. During that, Alba told Xavi that he does not intend to leave in the last few hours of the transfer market.

Barcelona did put pressure on the Spaniard to leave in attempt to reduce the load on their wage budget, with the player’s contract expiring in the summer of 2024. Alba has now discarded all possible exit routes and he is set to stay at the Catalan side. Inter were said to be interested in the player, but they didn’t respond to offer from intermediaries close to Barcelona.
