Bologna sack Sinisa Mihajlovic after five matches into the new Serie A season

Bologna have parted ways with Sinisa Mihajlovic after the club’s winless start to the 2022/23 Serie A season. The official announcement is imminent.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sinisa Mihajlovic was sacked on Tuesday after a meeting with the leaders of Bologna at his home in Rome.

The report suggests that influential personalities like CEO Claudio Fenucci, the director of the club Giovanni Sartori and Marco Di Vaio were present at the meeting. Bologna wanted Mihajlovic to quit the post. But having failed to agree on terms, the club managers ultimately decided to sack the coach.

He took over the Bologna job in 2019 and has managed to keep the club at the top tier of Italian football all these years. It is understood that Rossoblù’s poor start to the season, which has seen them garner three points from five matches, has resulted in Mihajlovic’s dismissal.

The Emilian club will now look to bring in a replacement. It is reported that Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to be Bologna’s next manager. Meanwhile, Thiago Motta, Claudio Ranieri, and Paulo Sousa are considered potential replacements for the 53-year-old.
