Catania edge closer to shutdown

Former Serie A club Catania is edging close to having been closed down due to lack of ownership.

La Sicilia claim today that Catania are now one step away from โ€˜abyssโ€™ as no offers have come forward for the clubโ€™s ownership. There is now a genuine risk of the club going out of business.

As of 16:02, Catania was not assigned to an owner and a further court order will now decide whether to close the club down or grant the club an extension of time to find a new owner.

No one showed up today at the auction, even if the Lazio-based entrepreneur Benedetto Mancini had registered a company with a logo and organisation chart in the Chamber of Commerce, entering a share capital of โ‚ฌ10 thousand euros and not the โ‚ฌ500 thousand euros required by the regulation of the call.
