Chelsea set to keep Denis Zakaria till the summer of 2023

Chelsea are set to keep midfielder Denis Zakaria till the summer of 2023, amidst talk of his loan stint ending in January.

Zakaria made his debut for the Blues against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and in his first start for the club, he ended up scoring for Graham Potter’s side.

While reports have stated that Zakaria’s loan stint could end in January and Chelsea have already made that decision, Romeo Agresti has stated that the Swiss midfielder will stay at Stamford Bridge till the end of the season.

That is because of the fact that the ex-Borussia Monchengladbach man played for Juve earlier in the season and has made an appearance for Chelsea as well. This means that he can’t play for another club apart from the Blues because FIFA rules state that a player can only be registered twice across a single season and playing again for Juve would require the Bianconeri to register the player in their squad list for January, but the rules do not allow that as it will be Zakaria’s third registration in the same season.
