Claudio Ranieri emerges as an option for Italy

Claudio Ranieri has emerged as an option to become the next Italy manager, following the country’s failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

La Repubblica claim that while Fabio Cannavaro is the current favourite to get the role, Ranieri’s potential appointment remains a viable hypothesis as well. Other alternatives are said to be Carlo Ancelotti, Rino Gattuso and Andrea Pirlo as well but those choices are said to be more nuanced.

Roberto Mancini is said to be a ‘master of his own destiny’ but FIGC’s members are said to be worried about the Italian’s situation and a potential resignation.

It is stated that the paradox could last till the World Cup and a decision could arrive after the tournament ends.
