Di Canio slams Chelsea’s Lukaku: “He complains at the first difficulties.”

Former Lazio and Napoli player Paolo di Canio has slammed Romelu Lukaku for his recent comments to Sky Italia about Chelsea and Inter.

Lukaku had stated his desire to return to Inter in the future and stated that he isn’t completely happy at Chelsea but he’s being professional enough to fit into Thomas Tuchel’s system.

Di Canio spoke to Sky Sport 24 before Chelsea’s game against Liverpool and he spoke about Lukaku’s comments.

He stated: “There are various aspects to consider in this interview: the character, the contradictions, the moment, the lack of awareness of what you are saying and at what levels. Then, there’s the weakness of an athlete who gives up after six months because perhaps he arrived there with an arrogance due to the fact that he does not realize the size and the levels.

“He won the Scudetto in Italy as a co-star with his teammates, but he is not a Messi or a player like that. With Zapata, Inter would have won anyway. He’s a functional player who did his duty. Then, Lukaku went to the European champions in another league that is 10 times higher in difficulty than the Italian one, in which you have to fight against teams like City and Liverpool.”

Di Canio further stated: “He said he would return to Inter, but at the moment Chelsea could also feel like a superior club at this historical moment. He complains at the first difficulties.”

Lukaku was excluded from the Chelsea squad for their game against Liverpool, as both sides played out a 2-2 draw.
