Franck Ribery set to retire following weekend’s Serie A clash

Salernitana’s Franck Ribery is set to retire from the game following the club’s upcoming Serie A game against Spezia.

It was reported some weeks ago that Ribery is set to hang up his boots and had spoken to the higher-ups at Salernitana, having conveyed his decision to them amidst numerous fitness and injury issues.

Corriere della Sera’s Campania edition (via TMW) has reported about the situation of the Frenchman stating that the clash against Spezia will be the last of his gliterring footballing career and after that, he is expected to take over a role in the higher-ups at the Salerno-based outfit.

Club owner Daniele Iervolino has already decided that he will work for the club in some capacity, with a final decision about the exact role yet to be determined by the Italian.

Ribery has picked up numerous injuries during his time at Salernitana and had joined the club after his contract at Fiorentina had expired.
