Inter handed Brozovic injury boost but concern remains over De Vrij’s fitness

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Inter Milan have been handed a massive boost ahead of their mega clash against Juventus on Sunday, with Marcelo Brozovic nearing a return from injury. However, there remains notable concern over the fitness of Stefan de Vrij, who has not played for the Nerazzurri since sustaining a knock in Inter’s Champions League tie against Liverpool on 8 March.

Juventus will host Inter in another much-awaited edition of Derby d’Italia next Sunday, with both teams being in the race for the coveted Scudetto this season. While Inter stand third with 60 points from 29 games, the Old Lady remains fourth with one less point from 30 games. A victory on the weekend could see Bianconeri toppling the reigning champions in the points table.

As such, it has become a game of much significance for the team from Milan. Brozovic picked up a calf injury, ruling him out of the game against Torino and Fiorentina. On Friday, Simone Inzaghi oversaw his first training session following the conclusion of the international break. In the training, Brozovic was seen working on his match fitness. Other than the Croat, the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Joaquin Correa, and Arturo Vidal also took part in the training. De Vrij did his bits separately, casting doubts over his potential involvement on Sunday.
