Lazio and Torino interested in Sassuolo’s Filip Djuricic

Under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri, Lazio keep on building a formidable squad for the 2022/23 season. Filip Djuricic could be their latest coup.

Today’s edition of Il Messaggero discusses Lazio’s interest in Filip Djuricic, who will leave Sassuolo as a free agent this summer, with his contract with the Neroverdi coming to an end in June 2022.

It is suggested that Sarri has been a long-term admirer of the midfielder. The report understands that the former Chelsea boss wishes to use him in different positions with different roles.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Djuricic made 12 appearances (equalling 677 minutes of football in Serie A) last season and amassed two goals and one assist.

Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare and Sarri were reportedly impressed with the player’s Wyscout data and have thus chosen to pursue his services this summer. Sarri has also spoken with Roberto De Zerbi, the former Sassuolo manager, about the qualities of Djuricic.

Torino are also believed to be interested in signing the player, but the way to Lazio is considered a more privileged lane for the Serbian midfielder, who turns 31 in January 2023.
