Lazio’s Luis Alberto refuses to train in hope of Sevilla transfer

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto has refused to train with the club as he now wants a move to Sevilla.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Luis Alberto didn’t report for training yesterday at Formello and he later let the club know that he had fever. But the player actually wants a move away from the club.

In the friendly, he was on the bench and Toma Basic started above him. When he has played, he hasn’t played well at all for Maurizio Sarri’s side. It is stated that this is a reflection of his wishes to leave Lazio and he wants to join Sevilla.

Lazio have been considering his sale for a while now and Claudio Lotito wants €30 million to sell the midfielder. The key reason for that fee is the €30 million sell-on clause that Liverpool have in the current deal for the player. The Biancocelesti, regardless, have readied Ivan Ilic to be a replacement for a fee of €15 million and because of that, it will be quite difficult to sell Luis Alberto for less than €20 million.

The player had arrived for training five days late at the start of pre-season in the previous campaign and he couldn’t always fit into Sarri’s methods. Sevilla meanwhile, despite selling Jules Kounde for a big fee, are yet to cough up the fee that Lazio want.
