Man City and Newcastle interested in Milan’s Leao

Manchester City and Newcastle United are interested in Milan star Rafael Leao.

This comes from Daniele Longo, who has reported that Jorge Mendes has raised the wage demand of the player from €5 million per season to €6 million per season. That is because of the legal disputes surrounding the player and Sporting Lisbon and the potential suitors’ interest in him.

Man City have taken the first steps for the Portuguese and Newcastle have tested the waters more recently too. As things stand, Leao wants to stay at Milan.

Any potential negotiation for the player depends on the new Investcorp ownership and one of the shareholders of the new owners – Mubadala, are very close to Man City’s current ownership. It is up to the owners whether they want to meet the wage demand of the player.

As things stand though, the next owners of the club want to keep the player and make him the crown jewel of their ownership.
