Manchester United reignite interest in Sergej Milinković-Savić

Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić remains determined to take a step forward in his career, with Manchester United emerging as a potential suitor for the Serbian midfielder.

In a recent report, Calciomercato claims that Manchester United have reignited their interest in Sergej Milinković-Savić after encountering a deadlock in the pursuit of Frenkie de Jong.

Milinković-Savić is seen as a suitable alternative to the Dutchman, who remains Erik ten Hag’s preferred option to replace Paul Pogba at the Premier League club.

United have been trying to sign the Barcelona midfielder for a long time and have already reached an agreement with the Catalan club for the signing of the player.

But it is understood that there is no agreement between the player’s entourage and the Red Devils over a summer transfer, making it difficult for Barca to offload the midfielder.

Manchester United could soon leave that route and join the race to sign Milinković-Savić, who has two years left on his contract at Lazio. The Serb will now renew his current terms at the Roman club.

The Italian side reportedly values the player at €70 million, which is somewhat cheaper than what United are willing to spend on De Jong.
