Napoli’s Giovanni Simeone reaches his father’s record following brace v Rangers

Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone has reached a record set by his father Diego Simeone after his brace against Rangers in the UEFA Champions League.

Simeone was on the scoresheet once again for the Partenopei, as the Argentine scored twice in the first half to hand Napoli the lead. Leo Ostigard had scored a goal of his won in the second half to help Napoli to a 3-0 win over the Scottish side.

With Napoli set to finish at the top of the group, it is Simeone who has equalled a record that is held by his own father – Diego. The father-son pair are the only two Argentine players to have scored four times in their first four Champions League games.

Giovanni scored twice today, but he got one goal each against Ajax and Liverpool earlier in the group stages. Having joined the club in the summer, the striker already has two goals in Serie A for the side.
