Newcastle and Arsenal keen on Napoli’s Victor Osimhen with Manchester United’s interest explained

Manchester United remain interested in making a switch for Victor Osimhen next summer, with Newcastle United and Arsenal also preparing lucrative offers for the Napoli sharpshooter.

In today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, it has been claimed that a Premier League club could prise Osimhen away from Napoli next summer, with clubs like Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Manchester United growing interested in securing the Nigerian forward’s services.

The story reveals how Newcastle, recently taken over by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium, tried to tempt Napoli with a proposal of €100million for the striker in January.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be a huge admirer of the striker and thus wants to bring him to Arsenal to fill the void caused by the January departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The story understands that the Gunners will also put a bid for the 23-year-old in the summer.

Manchester United’s interest in Osimhen has not become concrete yet. But the report suggests that it could “intensify over time”. Man United are likely to lose Edinson Cavani to a free transfer this time, while there also remain concerns over the futures of Anthony Martial, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Mason Greenwood at Old Trafford.

Despite the player being bound to a contract until June 2025 at Naples, it does look impossible that Napoli could hold onto a prized asset like Osimhen next summer. Nevertheless, they have reportedly started searching for a replacement – as Get Italian Football News looked at how Udinese forward Beto is considered one of the main candidates to replace the Nigerian international next season.
