Real Madrid plotting a summer move for Napoli midfielder

Real Madrid are willing to add reinforcements to their midfield this summer, with the Napoli midfielder considered a potential target for Caro Ancelotti.

Todayโ€™s edition of Il Mattino reveals that Real Madrid are plotting a move for Napoliโ€™s Fabian Ruiz this summer. It is suggested that Los Blancos want to prepare for life in the post-Modric era, resulting in them targeting a move for the Spaniard currently plying his trade in Serie A.ย

Signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, Modric, one of the oldest cogs in Ancelottiโ€™s Madrid, could leave the club sooner or later. His current deal at the Spanish capital ends in June 2022, but there are reports suggesting that he could also sign a one-year extension.

On the other hand, Ruizโ€™s contract at Napoli expires in June 2023. The 26-year-old doesnโ€™t want to sign an extension at Naples.ย Therefore, the approaching summer transfer window could be Partenopeiโ€™s last shot at pocketing something reasonable from the Spaniardโ€™s departure.

The report also claims that Ruiz supposedly had dinner with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis at the Hotel Britannique on Monday.
