Real Madrid plotting a summer move for Napoli midfielder

Real Madrid are willing to add reinforcements to their midfield this summer, with the Napoli midfielder considered a potential target for Caro Ancelotti.

Today’s edition of Il Mattino reveals that Real Madrid are plotting a move for Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz this summer. It is suggested that Los Blancos want to prepare for life in the post-Modric era, resulting in them targeting a move for the Spaniard currently plying his trade in Serie A.

Signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, Modric, one of the oldest cogs in Ancelotti’s Madrid, could leave the club sooner or later. His current deal at the Spanish capital ends in June 2022, but there are reports suggesting that he could also sign a one-year extension.

On the other hand, Ruiz’s contract at Napoli expires in June 2023. The 26-year-old doesn’t want to sign an extension at Naples. Therefore, the approaching summer transfer window could be Partenopei’s last shot at pocketing something reasonable from the Spaniard’s departure.

The report also claims that Ruiz supposedly had dinner with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis at the Hotel Britannique on Monday.
