Atalanta close in on Verona’s Isak Hien

Isak Hien impressed in the league last season in his first campaign since joining Hellas Verona. The centre back was one of the team’s stand out performers and as such he has gained a number of admirers. One of those admirers is Atalanta, reports Gianluca di Marzio.

Even though Verona finished in 18th and only won seven games, their defensive record was not too bad. They conceded less goals than 13th placed Sassuolo and Hien was one of the keys to that. He started 28 games as Verona were unfortunately relegated. The 24 year old Swede is reported to cost €11 million and Atalanta will meet Verona next week in an effort to close the deal.

Atalanta are in need of defensive reinforcements, as can be confirmed by their defensive displays last season. They had the second worst defensive record amongst the top 10 placed clubs in the league, conceding 48 goals.

A meeting involving the two clubs will take place next week and it could close the deal, with personal terms already agreed between the player and La Dea.
