Qatari club Al Duhail are interested in signing Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto but have had a bid rejected by the Roman club.
Gianluca di Marzio has reported that Al Duhail want to bring the Spaniard to Qatar and they have already held talks twice with Lazio. First meeting came in April and the second one came in June, with the Qatari outfit offering the player 8 million per season.
They offered Lazio a fee of €12 million plus €3 million in bonuses but it has been rejected, since Claudio Lotito wants the price tag of €20 million to be met by potential suitors. Having said that, Maurizio Sarri considers Luis Alberto to be a vital player and he wants his contract at the club to be renewed.
But to make sure that they sign the player, Al Duhail have asked the player to agree to a salary cut, so that they can invest more in the bid to Lazio. As things stand, his agents are pushing for a move to Qatar but they would also be keen on a renewal for Lazio but the terms they are demanding are beyond the Roman outfit. The negotiations are well underway.
