Milan’s Ismael Bennacer ruled out for six months

Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has been ruled out of action for atleast six months, it has been confirmed.

The Algerian star had started the Rossoneri’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Inter but within minutes, he picked up an injury due to which he was forced off the pitch. It was revealed that his season is now over and he would only play next season.

Milan have now confirmed that Bennacer has undergone an arthroscopy of his right knee in Lyon, where doctor Bertrand Sonnery Cottet successfully operated on the midfielder’s chondral lesion on the knee. Rossoneri Medical head Stefano Mazzoni was also present during the surgery and the Algerian is expected to recuperate for the next six months.

This is Bennacer’s first major injury for the club since he joined the Rossoneri from Empoli in 2019. He has been a vital player for Milan since then and was recently rewarded a new deal, which is set to keep him at Milan till the summer of 2027.
