Napoli CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis mocks Luis Enrique: “Thank goodness, he went to France”

Napoli CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis made sarcastic remarks about the current Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique following rumours about Rudi Garcia’s potential sacking.

According to a report by Sky Italia, Rudi Garcia is expected to continue on the Napoli bench despite underwhelming results as club CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis indicated through an indirect confirmation. The Partenopei owner made a comment about PSG manager Luis Enrique, with whom his club had been linked at the start of the season. He said: “I called Luis Enrique and thank goodness he went to France, look at the results he is getting. He hadn’t even convinced me in the dialectical excursus we had for three days. I called several of them.”

With these remarks, De Laurentiis claimed that the decision to replace Luciano Spalletti with Rudi Garcia had been a calculated one and the club won’t be taking “hasty” decisions at the moment. Enrique was heavily linked with a move to Napoli in the summer after Luciano Spalletti’s exit from the club but the financials of the move meant that it could never materialise.

Speculation till remains regarding the future of the French manager as it is predicted that the results following the return of club football from the international break will decide his tenure at Napoli.
