Napoli interested in Ajax’s Jurrien Timber

Serie A Champions Napoli are interested in the possibility of signing Ajax defender Jurrien Timber.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported about Kim Min-Jae’s situation at Napoli and his future at the Partenopei, with his €48 million release clause set to be active for the first 15 days of July. With Harry Maguire expected to leave Manchester United, the Red Devils are interested in the South Korean and Tottenham are also interested. With Kalidou Koulibaly’s move not having worked out, Chelsea are also interested in Kim.

In recent weeks, Aurelio de Laurentiis has tried to cancel the clause by modifying the contract’s wage and length but those attempts have not succeeded. And Kim is now tempted, with United ready to offer around €8 million per season.

Napoli consider Kim to be a vital player and that is why they would need a replacement for him. They have some names on their shortlist and that includes Konstantinos Mavropanos, Giorgio Scalvini and Kevin Danso. But recently, Timber’s name has also become someone who interests the Partenopei, with Scalvini’s price expected to be high. Napoli have been quite impressed by Timber’s performances and a move for the Dutchman can’t be ruled out.
